Sharjah, February 6, 2026

The “Sharjah Heritage Days” continues to attract artists from around the world. Among this year’s prominent participants is French artist Jean-Brioc Chevalier, who presented his remarkable exhibition “Illuminations on Wood”, showcasing traditional craftsmanship through a contemporary artistic lens. The exhibition reflects the relationship between traditional crafts and modern art, emphasizing that artistic memory can be renewed through innovation while preserving its essence.

Details That Blend Imagination and Reality

Chevalier presents meticulously handcrafted works, including foldable screens and curtains, which earned him the “Exceptional Talent in Handicrafts” award for 2025, recommended by a committee chaired by Laurence de Car, director of the Louvre Museum. The artist also excels in veneer marquetry, carving, and engraving techniques, transforming wood into artworks that merge realism, magic, and imagination. His creations include cabinets and furniture with innovative designs.

First Visit to the UAE

This is Chevalier’s first participation in Sharjah Heritage Days. He expressed his delight at attending and his eagerness to explore Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai during his visit, making the exhibition a bridge between French heritage and contemporary creativity in the heart of Sharjah.
