H.E. Mr. Abubakr Al-Kindi’s Speech on the Occasion of Emirati Women’s Day
On Emirati Women’s Day, we celebrate an exceptional journey through which Emirati women have demonstrated that they are true partners in the process of development and in shaping the future, and that empowering women has been, and continues to be, one of the key pillars of the nation’s progress. Emirati women have also demonstrated their outstanding presence across various fields, while at the same time maintaining a strong connection to their national identity and cultural heritage.
In the field of heritage, Emirati women play a pivotal role in preserving and safeguarding cultural heritage from fading into oblivion. They are custodians of the memory of place, storytellers of the details of traditional life, and transmitters of knowledge, crafts, customs, and traditions to new generations. They have also contributed to developing innovative ways of introducing and presenting heritage in line with the demands of the modern age, thereby strengthening the presence of heritage in the collective consciousness of society.
At the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, we take great pride in women’s contributions across the various fields of heritage work. We believe that their active presence is a guarantee for the sustainability of our heritage and the strengthening of national identity. We reaffirm our commitment to supporting their talents and creativity, guided by our belief that preserving heritage is a shared responsibility and that women are essential partners in safeguarding our cultural memory and shaping a future that remains deeply connected to authenticity.
