As part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard cultural heritage and strengthen its presence in the awareness of younger generations, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage organized a heritage program in Kalba, hosting students from Al-Shifa bint Abdullah Secondary School.

Women’s Adornment in Collective Memory

Organized by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage – Kalba Branch, and hosted at the home of craftswoman Umm Hamad in the Heritage Al Hisn neighborhood, the program shed light on traditional Emirati women’s adornment. It introduced participants to its historical forms, social and cultural connotations, and the aesthetic presence and community identity it represented in the lives of Emirati women in the past.

Live Demonstration and Authentic Tools

The students explored a collection of heritage tools associated with adornment and listened to a detailed explanation by the craftswoman, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of folk heritage within its historical and human context.

The Bride’s Trousseau and Female Identity

This activity formed part of the program “The Bride’s Trousseau: The Authenticity of Emirati Women Through Time,” which aims to highlight the status of Emirati women and their role in preserving heritage and transmitting its elements across generations.

Positive Engagement and Educational Impact

The program witnessed notable interaction from students and accompanying teachers, contributing to the enrichment of their knowledge of national heritage and reinforcing the values of identity and belonging through an educational experience that combines direct learning with cultural depth.
