Sharjah, 11 February 2026

As part of its diverse activities, Sharjah Heritage Days presents a distinctive interactive space titled “Our Children and Heritage”, offering live experiences that reconnect generations with the memory of place. The initiative unfolds in an enjoyable educational atmosphere that brings children and their families together in a shared experience infused with the spirit of an authentic past.

Authenticity Majlis… Heritage That Unites Us

The pavilion hosts the “Authenticity Majlis” initiative, featuring evening gatherings under the theme “Heritage That Unites Us.” Inspired by traditional heritage councils, these sessions bring community members together to exchange conversations about values and folk traditions, fostering stronger intergenerational connections.

Art Workshops and Creative Corners

The pavilion also includes a dedicated area for art workshops, such as a painters’ corner and heritage drawing sessions, alongside doll-making and traditional toy-making workshops. Here, children experience the joy of designing their own toys by hand, just as children did in the past.

Folk Games with the Chants of Yesterday

A special section is devoted to traditional games, where children are introduced to games of the past accompanied by rhythmic chants. They also take part in simple folk dances within an interactive setting that encourages family participation and creates joyful shared moments.

Heritage… A Lived Experience

Ms. Maryam Al Sahlawi, Events and Activities Coordinator at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, emphasized that the aim of these programs is to transform heritage into a lived experience rather than mere information. Through this initiative, children relive the simplicity of life in earlier times and discover how their peers once created happiness through folk games, chants, and storytelling—all within a fun, child-friendly educational environment
