Panel Discussion Highlights Documentation and Publishing: Egyptian Heritage in the Publications of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage… An Enduring Presence and a Lasting Intellectual Impact

As part of the cultural program accompanying its current participation in the Cairo International Book Fair, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage organized a panel discussion titled “Egyptian Heritage in the Publications of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage… Presence and Impact.”
The session featured Dr. Amina Salem, Dr. Husham Abdul-Aziz, and Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Ela, and was moderated by Dr. Khaled Mutually. It drew a notable audience of writers, experts, researchers, and individuals interested in heritage affairs.
A Decade of Care for Egyptian Heritage
The discussion addressed the presence of Egyptian heritage in the publications of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage over more than a decade, highlighting the role of these publications in documenting and safeguarding this heritage by presenting it in a rigorous academic format that ensures accessibility for readers and researchers, and contributes to its preservation for future generations.
Diversity of Topics and Richness of Content
Participants reviewed a selection of significant titles published by the Institute by Egyptian researchers and experts, covering various elements of heritage with their symbols and treasures—from folk tales and traditional songs in Northern Upper Egypt, to crafts and traditional industries, heritage costumes, and other topics that reflect the richness and diversity of Egypt’s cultural legacy.
Launch of New Heritage Publications
The session concluded with the launch of four new books:
Editing Manuscripts of Folk Heritage by Dr. Husham Abdul-Aziz;
The Arts of Trickery by Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Ela;
Wooden Puppets by Dr. Amina Salem; and
Guardians of Folk Art in Egypt by researcher Adel Al-Sanhouri—an important addition that further strengthens the presence of Egyptian heritage in the library of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage.
