Sharjah Institute for Heritage and Egypt’s National Translation Centre… a knowledge partnership to enhance the global presence of heritage.

Affirming its commitment to strengthening cultural partnerships and developing cross-border knowledge projects, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage continued its efforts to build bridges of cooperation with Arab cultural institutions. A delegation from the Institute made an official visit to the National Translation Centre of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture in the New Administrative Capital to discuss prospects for joint cooperation in the fields of translation and book production.

Introducing the Institute and its cultural mission

The delegation was headed by H.E. Dr. Abdul-Aziz AlMusallam, Director of the Institute, and received by Dr. Rasha Saleh, President of the National Translation Centre. Dr. AlMusallam opened the meeting by presenting the Institute’s mission and its various roles in specialized publishing and the book industry, noting the Institute’s body of knowledge and distinguished publications that have contributed to empowering Emirati and Arab cultural heritage and opening up to human heritage in its diverse manifestations.

Strengthening communication with Egyptian institutions

AlMusallam affirmed the Emirate of Sharjah’s keenness to strengthen cultural ties with Egyptian cultural institutions, particularly in heritage fields, stemming from its belief in the importance of knowledge partnerships in preserving heritage, circulating it, and passing it on to future generations.

Translation as a gateway to human heritage

The Director praised the fruitful cooperation with the National Translation Centre, which has previously resulted in joint publications within the Institute’s programs, and expressed his hope that future cooperation will yield new and diverse projects, especially in translating global heritage and making it available to Arabic readers.

Exchange of publications and reaffirmation of partnership

At the end of the visit, publications were exchanged between the two parties, a step that confirms the depth of cultural relations and the continuity of cooperation between the two institutions.

The Institute’s delegation included: Khaled Al Matroushi, Director of Government Communications; Aisha Al Hissan, Director of the Arab Heritage Centre; Dr. Minni Abu-naama, Director of Content and Publishing; Mona Al Modfa, Book Programs Coordinator; and Hind Al Baqeesh from the Arab Heritage Centre
