Under the slogan “We Will Emerge Stronger and Better”: (SIH) Celebrates Emirati Women’s Day
The Sharjah Institute for Heritage celebrated Emirati Women’s Day on Thursday through an event held at its headquarters in Sharjah’s University City under the slogan “We Will Emerge Stronger and Better.” The event was attended by H.E. Mr. Abubakr Al Kindi, Director of the Institute, along with department directors and employees, as well as a number of guests and heritage enthusiasts. The event reflected appreciation for the status of Emirati women and their vital role in the UAE’s development journey, as well as in preserving national identity and heritage.
A National Occasion Celebrating the Achievements of Emirati Women
H.E. Abubakr Al Kindi, Director of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, affirmed that Emirati Women’s Day represents an important national occasion to celebrate the achievements of Emirati women and recognize their active contributions across various fields. He noted that women have always been, and continue to be, essential partners in building society and strengthening its achievements, adding that the support and empowerment they receive reflect the wise vision that has placed people at the heart of development and progress.
He added that women play a pivotal role in the field of heritage by transmitting cultural heritage to younger generations through their participation in traditional crafts, heritage events, and cultural initiatives. He emphasized the Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s commitment to providing a supportive and stimulating environment for women, highlighting their contributions and creativity in ways that strengthen their presence in the cultural and heritage landscape and reinforce the status of Emirati heritage as an authentic component of national identity.
Women’s Pavilions and Projects
The event’s programme included a tour of several participating pavilions and projects, including the “We Will Emerge Stronger and Better” pavilion, the Al Suwaiea exhibition and traditional clothing display, as well as the participation of the MZDAN project and entrepreneur Fatima Al Mousawi. The Lafondelle project also took part, showcasing the diversity of Emirati women’s creativity in heritage-related fields and entrepreneurship.
Interactive and Entertainment Segments
The event featured a number of stage segments, beginning with a welcoming address delivered by Ms. Maryam Al Ajel, followed by a dialogue with H.E. Mr. Abubakr Al Kindi. Interactive entertainment competitions were also organized for the Institute’s employees, contributing to a lively atmosphere of participation and celebration of this national occasion.
Heritage Workshops and Souvenirs
The programme also featured a series of accompanying workshops, including a loom (Sadu) workshop, an accessories-holder-making workshop, and a “Painting in Gold” workshop. Souvenir gifts were presented to female participants and guests, creating an atmosphere that combined celebrating Emirati women with highlighting various aspects of the UAE’s authentic heritage.
