Emarati Women's Day
Sharjah Institute for Heritage Celebrates Emirati Women’s Day Under the Theme “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate the 50”
In a new national milestone that reaffirms the status of Emirati women and their role in the nation's progress, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage organized a special event on Thursday, August 28, to mark Emirati Women’s Day, under the theme “Hand in Hand, We Celebrate the 50”. The event was held at the Institute’s headquarters in University City, Sharjah.
This celebration reflects the Institute’s deep belief that Emirati women have never been mere recipients of heritage, but rather a cornerstone in preserving and transmitting it, and a strong voice in the country’s cultural journey. From traditional homes once wisely run by mothers and grandmothers, to today’s academic and professional platforms, Emirati women have shouldered the responsibility of safeguarding and enriching cultural heritage.
A Tribute to Women’s Enduring Role
His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, emphasized the special significance of celebrating Emirati Women’s Day at the Institute, stating:
“The Emirati woman has always been a symbol of resilience and contribution. She stood alongside men from the early days of nation-building, took on the responsibility of family and raising generations, and preserved our values and heritage. Today, she continues to play a leading role across various fields, proving her presence in leadership and the workforce. Her inspiring journey is a testament to willpower and commitment, making her a key partner in the UAE’s renaissance and its prosperous future.”
Cultural Program Highlights
The event featured a rich program of heritage and cultural activities, including:
Panel discussions with influential Emirati women
Live demonstrations showcasing women’s skills in traditional crafts
Recognition of distinguished female figures who have contributed to the preservation of national identity through their work in various fields
This occasion served as a platform to highlight the achievements of Emirati women over five decades, and as an opportunity to inspire the younger generation to continue the path of empowerment. The event also reinforced a clear vision: that heritage is not just the past—it is a living force for building the future.
