His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, affirmed that the Union Pledge marks an enduring milestone in the history of the United Arab Emirates, commemorating the historic moment when the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace, together with his fellow Rulers, laid the firm foundations of a union that has become a global model of unity, development, and humanity.
He stated that this cherished national occasion is not merely a remembrance of a pivotal historical event, but a renewed pledge of loyalty to the enduring values upon which the Union was built—foremost among them unity, solidarity, national belonging, devotion to the homeland, and sincere commitment to its prosperity and sustainable progress.
Drawing Inspiration from the Founding Vision
Dr. Al Musallam noted that the Union Pledge serves as a renewed call for younger generations to draw inspiration from the vision, determination, and wisdom of the Founding Fathers, and to continue the journey of nation-building and leadership that the UAE is pursuing under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him, further strengthening the country's global standing across all fields.
Heritage Reinforces National Identity
The Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage explained that the Institute continues to fulfill its national mission in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, may God preserve him. He emphasized the Institute’s steadfast belief that safeguarding the nation’s heritage and preserving its cultural memory constitute essential pillars in reinforcing national identity and deepening the sense of belonging.
He further stressed that Emirati heritage remains a living witness to the journey of the Union and serves as a bridge connecting the nation's glorious past with its flourishing present and promising future.
