05 Mar 2025

With the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan this year, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage organized an exceptional event at the Al Sour Square in the heart of Sharjah, taking visitors on a journey through time. Here, authenticity meets deep-rooted traditions in the heritage nights, a short but memorable experience that began on March 5 and will conclude on March 23, 2025. These heritage nights are not just an event; they are a journey into the past, where heritage comes to life in every corner, and the scent of history fills the air from the walls of historic buildings, interspersed with traditional markets. The place pulses with the spirit of Ramadan, where warm lights, the aroma of incense and oud, and the voices of street vendors blend with the laughter and conversations of the people.

Ramadan Market… A Journey Through Time
As evening falls, Al Sour Square transforms into a lively heritage scene, where participants in this cultural event invite visitors to experience a shopping trip reminiscent of markets from a bygone era. With over 60 diverse shops and popular cafés offering delicious traditional foods like luqaimat, regag bread, and harees, each dish tells a story from the UAE's heritage.

Traditional Clothing and Perfumes That Carry the Scent of Heritage
In the corners of the market, perfume and incense stores showcase products filled with authenticity. Here, visitors can purchase oud, musk, and perfumes that embody traditional scents. Nearby, the shop windows are adorned with beautiful traditional attire, creating a scene that reflects the beauty of the Emirati identity.

Ramadan Gatherings in Al Sour Square
What sets the heritage nights in the heart of Sharjah apart is the traditional gatherings that take place in the historical square. Visitors gather in these spaces to enjoy Arabic tea and coffee, engage in conversations, and enjoy the evening breeze that brings back memories of a time gone by.

This event truly embodies the essence of Emirati heritage and demonstrates how Ramadan celebrations can be a memorable emotional and cultural experience.
