Sharjah Archives Approves Private Records Management System for the Sharjah Institute for Heritage

The Archives Authority in the Emirate of Sharjah has approved the private records management system of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, in continuation of the institutional cooperation between the two entities. The move aims to ensure the collection, preservation, and organization of the institute’s paper and electronic records in accordance with the best international standards and practices, while taking into account the specific nature of heritage and cultural documentation overseen by the institute.
The approval was signed by H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Archives Authority in the Emirate of Sharjah, and H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, in the presence of H.E. Salah Salem Al Mahmoud, Director General of the Authority, H.E. Abu Bakr Al Kindi, Director of the Institute, along with a number of officials and staff from both sides.
H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi praised the considerable efforts made by the teams of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage throughout the preparation and approval stages of the system, affirming that this cooperation reflects the institute’s commitment to safeguarding the emirate’s cultural heritage and preserving it for future generations through modern scientific and methodological approaches. He noted that documenting this intellectual and human legacy requires specialized systems that recognize its value and uniqueness.
He added:
“Implementing the system in a manner tailored to the institute’s records represents a model of institutional integration among government entities. It contributes to enhancing performance quality, organizing workflows, and advancing records management to higher levels, thereby reinforcing Sharjah’s standing in the field of heritage preservation.”
For his part, H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, stated:
“The adoption of this system represents a strategic step in the institute’s journey toward documenting and preserving Sharjah’s cultural and heritage legacy. Through this system, we seek to protect the national memory and place it within an institutional framework that ensures its sustainability and accessibility according to the highest global standards, in a manner befitting Sharjah’s status as a guardian of authentic heritage.”
Al Musallam further noted that cooperation with the Archives Authority in Sharjah embodies the spirit of joint institutional work aimed at developing administrative systems. He emphasized that the system has been applied in a specialized and precise manner to fully align with the unique nature of the heritage and cultural records housed by the institute. He added that the primary objective is to create a secure and sustainable archival environment for manuscripts and documents, both paper and electronic, ensuring their protection from damage or loss and preserving them as authentic references for future generations.
The Archives Authority in Sharjah continues its efforts to develop records management systems across government entities. The approval of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s private records management system comes as an extension of the Authority’s approach to strengthening institutional integration in preserving the memory of the Emirate of Sharjah, through adopting specialized systems and providing technical and advisory support aligned with best international practices, thereby enhancing the efficiency of records preservation and protection.
