Sharjah Institute for Heritage President Receives Indian Guest, Showcases Document Preservation Efforts

On Tuesday, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, welcomed Judge Muhammad Ishfaq, Mufti and Imam of the Grand Mosque in Mumbai, and Head of the Muhammadiyah Library affiliated with the mosque in the Republic of India. He was accompanied by Professor Dr. Saif Al-Badwawi. They were also received by heritage researcher Dr. Hamad bin Sarai Al-Nuaimi, during a special visit to the Institute’s Document and Manuscript Restoration Department.
During the visit, the guests were introduced to the scientific and practical methods used in preserving historical documents and rare manuscripts.
Tour of the "In the Shade of the Palm Tree" Exhibition
The visit included a guided tour of the “In the Shade of the Palm Tree: Heritage and Story” exhibition, which highlights the cultural significance of the palm tree in Arab heritage and its vital role in human and community life. The exhibition featured participation from several Arab countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Egypt, with each country showcasing aspects of its palm-related heritage.
Promoting Cultural Cooperation
Dr. Al-Musallam emphasized the importance of such visits in building bridges of cultural and intellectual cooperation. He stated that the Institute welcomes all initiatives aimed at enhancing the preservation of shared cultural heritage, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and expertise in safeguarding identity and heritage.
The Importance of Document Preservation
His Excellency also highlighted that the Sharjah Institute for Heritage places great importance on the preservation of manuscripts and documents, recognizing them as authentic sources of knowledge. The Institute continues to develop its technical and human capabilities in this field, in collaboration with both local and international partners.

Judge Muhammad Ishfaq and Dr. Saif Al-Badwawi expressed their happiness with the visit and the valuable insights they gained regarding the Institute’s distinctive heritage efforts. They affirmed that such initiatives deepen cultural ties between peoples and open wide horizons for future cooperation.
