The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) organized on Tuesday a knowledge workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence and Its Role in Strengthening National Identity,” as part of its efforts to keep pace with technological developments and leverage them to support culture and heritage, while raising awareness of the importance of innovation in preserving cultural heritage.

AI Applications in Heritage

The workshop, organized by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage – Kalba Branch, explored the concept of artificial intelligence and its key applications, focusing on its potential to preserve and safeguard cultural heritage, strengthen national identity, enhance work methods, and benefit from modern digital tools and technologies.

Harnessing Technology to Serve Identity

The workshop was presented by Jamila Mohammed Abdullah, who highlighted various ways AI technologies can be utilized in the cultural and heritage sectors. She stressed the importance of using these technologies positively to support national values and strengthen the presence of heritage and identity amid the accelerating digital transformation.

The workshop witnessed significant engagement from participants, who enriched the discussion with a range of comments and questions about the uses of artificial intelligence and its potential to advance cultural and heritage work and strengthen the presence of national identity in the digital environment.

The workshop is part of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s efforts to implement knowledge-based programs and activities aimed at raising awareness of modern technologies and enhancing their use in serving culture, heritage, and national identity, in line with digital developments while preserving cultural heritage.
