The Sharjah Institute for Heritage organized a cultural session titled "The Emirati Family: Roots of the Past and Horizons of the Future" as part of its programs aimed at raising community awareness of the family's vital role in preserving cultural heritage and strengthening national identity. The session brought together a number of specialists and individuals interested in cultural and heritage affairs. It was moderated by Ms. Anoud Al Kindi and featured contributions from Ms. Shamma Eid Bilal Al Tayyar and Dr. Moza Rashid Al Kindi.

Family and Identity

During the session, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage – Kalba Branch highlighted the central role of the Emirati family as the cornerstone of society, emphasizing its responsibility in instilling authentic values, fostering national belonging, and transmitting cultural heritage across generations. Participants also discussed the impact of social and technological changes on family life, stressing the importance of maintaining a thoughtful balance between preserving cultural traditions and embracing the demands of development and progress.

An Inspiring Model

Dr. Moza Rashid Al Kindi presented the experience of the Ahmed Al Kindi Family, winner of the Khalifa Educational Award in the category of Outstanding Emirati Family. She reviewed the key practices that contributed to the family's success, particularly the integration of family roles, the promotion of a culture of responsibility, and the creation of an educational and social environment that nurtures excellence.

The session concluded by reaffirming that the Emirati family will continue to serve as the primary guardian of national identity and the most important pillar in safeguarding cultural heritage. Through its essential role in raising future generations and strengthening their connection to the values, history, and civilizational legacy of the UAE, the family ensures the continuity and transmission of this rich heritage to future generations.
