13 Jul 2026

As part of its ongoing mission to safeguard the UAE’s cultural heritage and strengthen national identity, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage welcomed members of the Sharjah Classic Cars Club as part of the Sharjah Sports Summer 2026 programme. The cultural initiative aimed to introduce participants to the authentic Emirati heritage while fostering a sense of belonging and pride in the nation’s identity through a series of interactive educational activities.

Khorfakkan Branch Showcases Traditional Crafts

During the visit, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage – Khorfakkan Branch guided participants on a tour of its facilities, where they explored a variety of traditional Emirati crafts. The tour highlighted the historical and cultural significance of these crafts in the lives of past generations, while also introducing the Institute’s ongoing efforts to document, preserve, and pass this invaluable heritage on to future generations.

Coffee Etiquette: A Living Tradition of Hospitality

The programme also featured an interactive workshop entitled "Al Sanaa (The Etiquette of Pouring Arabic Coffee)", which introduced participants to the customs and traditions associated with serving Arabic coffee. The workshop highlighted this enduring practice as one of the most distinguished symbols of Emirati generosity, hospitality, and cultural values passed down through generations.

Educational Programmes that Reinforce National Identity

This initiative forms part of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s broader programme of educational and cultural outreach activities designed to raise public awareness of the UAE’s rich cultural heritage. Through engaging learning experiences and interactive workshops, the Institute continues to strengthen younger generations’ connection to their heritage while contributing to the preservation of national identity and the sustainability of the country's cultural legacy.
