"SIH" participates in "Liangzhu Forum 2025" in China to enhance international cultural cooperation.

In the framework of cultural exchange between the United Arab Emirates and the People’s Republic of China, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) participated in the “LIANG ZHU Forum 2025” held in Hangzhou, under the theme “Cultural Heritage and Human Cultural Diversity. The event brought together leading experts, intellectuals, and heads of cultural institutions from around the world, affirming the Institute’s role in supporting international efforts to protect human heritage and foster intercultural dialogue.

Sharjah's Vision: Soft Heritage: A Force for Development and Unification of Values

During his address at a parallel session titled “Future Vision: World Cultural Heritage and a New A model of human progress” H.E. Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, presented Sharjah’s pioneering model in the preservation of cultural heritage and its integration within cultural and knowledge-based development strategies. He emphasized that investing in heritage is, in essence, an investment in humanity and its creative potential

Al-Musallam stated: “In Sharjah, we are guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who has made culture and heritage a cornerstone of human development. From this vision, the Institute works to document national memory and activate the role of heritage in both the present and the future, as a foundation for strengthening identity and fostering constructive human dialogue.”

Global Prospects for the Future of Cultural Heritage

In his remarks, Dr. Al-Musallam highlighted the importance of promoting cultural heritage as a bridge for peace and mutual understanding among nations, noting that human heritage embodies a universal language rooted in shared values of openness and connection.

He explained that integrating heritage into university education systems contributes to inspiring new generations to develop their modern technological capabilities .and their intellectual and artistic capabilities.

He also pointed to the growing role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in preserving and documenting heritage while maintaining its authenticity and human essence.

Appreciation for the Chinese Experience and Emphasis on Cultural Partnership

In conclusion, Dr. Al-Musallam expressed his deep appreciation to the organizing entities in China for their efforts in advancing international cultural collaboration, he emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between Emirati and Chinese institutions in research, documentation, and intangible heritage—efforts that contribute to building bridges of understanding and reinforcing the values of diversity and mutual respect.

The Institute’s participation aligns with its strategy to enhance the presence of Emirati heritage on the global stage and promote cultural dialogue, in line with Sharjah’s vision of building human connections and establishing itself as a global center for heritage and culture.
