(SIH) Receives UAE National Orchestra Delegation to Strengthen Cultural Cooperation
The Sharjah Heritage Institute welcomed a delegation from the UAE National Orchestra, headed by H.H. Sheikha Alya bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Director General of the UAE National Orchestra, in the presence of renowned Egyptian composer Hesham Nazih and Farah Jadeed, Senior Manager – Director General's Office. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between cultural institutions and expand partnership opportunities in employing Emirati heritage as a source of contemporary cultural and artistic creativity.
The delegation was received by H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, accompanied by a number of the Institute's directors and officials.
A Tour Through Heritage Preservation
During a guided tour of the Institute's facilities and departments, the delegation was introduced to its mission of safeguarding cultural heritage and its efforts in documentation, scientific research, and professional training. They also learned about the Institute's programmes and initiatives dedicated to strengthening national identity, preserving the UAE's cultural heritage, and transmitting it to future generations.
The delegation was further briefed on the Institute's initiatives for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and its role in promoting Emirati heritage while enhancing its presence at both regional and international levels.
Al Musallam: Cultural Partnerships Inspire Creativity
H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam emphasized that the visit reflects the importance of integration among national cultural institutions and reinforces collaborative efforts to incorporate Emirati heritage into creative projects. He noted that such cooperation strengthens national identity, opens new horizons for joint cultural initiatives, and represents a valuable opportunity to build partnerships that unite efforts in serving Emirati culture and preserving its heritage.

The visit forms part of the cultural programme implemented by the UAE National Orchestra during the hosting of composer Hesham Nazih from 25 to 30 June 2026. During this period, he is composing a new musical work inspired by the UAE's cultural heritage, reflecting its richness and diversity. The project benefits from the Orchestra's meetings with cultural institutions and heritage experts across the UAE, enriching the composition with a contemporary artistic vision rooted in the nation's authentic cultural legacy.
New Horizons for Cooperation
At the conclusion of the visit, both parties underscored the importance of expanding cooperation between cultural and artistic institutions and launching joint initiatives that draw upon Emirati heritage in contemporary creative production. They emphasized that such collaboration would contribute to strengthening national identity while showcasing the UAE's rich cultural legacy at both the regional and international levels.
