(SIH) Revives the Memory of Emirati Cuisine Through the Interactive Workshop “Flavors of the Past”
As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening its interactive programs and activities dedicated to safeguarding cultural heritage and preserving traditional customs, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage continues to deliver distinguished initiatives and hands-on workshops that celebrate authentic Emirati heritage and pass it on to diverse segments of society. These efforts contribute to reinforcing national identity, promoting the values of authenticity, and raising awareness of the importance of preserving customs and traditions as an integral part of the United Arab Emirates' cultural memory.
“Flavors of the Past” in Khorfakkan
Within this framework, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage – Khorfakkan Branch, in cooperation with the Emirati Crafts Center, organized an interactive workshop entitled “Flavors of the Past” for members of the Department of Social Services. The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the rich heritage of Emirati cuisine, highlight the significance of traditional dishes in the country's social fabric, and foster greater appreciation for preserving this valuable cultural legacy.
Al Batheetha… A Taste of Authenticity
The workshop featured a practical demonstration of how to prepare Al Batheetha, one of the UAE's traditional delicacies closely associated with social occasions and community heritage. Participants were introduced to its key ingredients and preparation methods through an engaging hands-on experience, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of this culinary tradition, appreciate its cultural significance, and support its transmission to future generations.
