Taghrooda (Camel chant)
The Sharjah Institute for Heritage organized a special heritage event celebrating "Taghrooda" (Camel Chant) at Al Dhaid Fort, one of the prominent heritage landmarks in the emirate. The event was attended by dignitaries, residents of the Central Region, and heritage enthusiasts.
This celebration is part of the program accompanying the World Heritage Day, which is observed globally every year on April 18, to emphasize the importance of preserving and safeguarding human cultural heritage. This year, the spotlight was placed on "Taghrooda" as an authentic Emirati heritage tradition. It was inscribed in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012, in recognition of its social and human significance that reflects the spirit of Bedouin life.
