(SIH) Enhances Its Staff’s Research Skills in Dibba Al Hisn
The Sharjah Institute for Heritage organised a specialised three-day training course in scientific research for its staff in Dibba Al Hisn, with the participation of a distinguished group of academics. The course was attended by Hind Salem Al Awani, Director of the Dibba Al Hisn Branch, and all female branch employees. It aimed to develop their research skills and enhance their professional knowledge and capabilities.
Three Key Academic Themes
Organised by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage – Dibba Al Hisn Branch, in cooperation with the Institute’s Academic Administration, the programme covered three complementary themes.
The first focused on developing scientific research from the initial idea to the research proposal, addressing the fundamentals of research preparation, topic selection and the formulation of research objectives.
The second explored finding academic sources in the digital age, highlighting ways to access reliable references and utilise digital tools and artificial intelligence technologies to support research and organise information.
The course concluded with a session on academic referencing skills in accordance with the APA style, covering citation methods and the preparation of reference lists in line with recognised academic standards, thereby promoting accuracy, credibility and academic integrity.
Practical Application and Meaningful Engagement
The course witnessed notable engagement from participants through practical exercises and direct discussions with academics, enabling them to apply the knowledge acquired and develop their research and referencing skills.
Hind Salem Al Awani followed the programme throughout its three days, underscoring the importance of continuous training in improving professional performance.
Investing in Human Capital
The course reflects the Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s commitment to developing human capital, strengthening integration between its branches and academic departments, and fostering a culture of research and lifelong learning.
It also demonstrates the Institute’s commitment to equipping its staff with the skills needed to apply knowledge and modern scientific methodologies in the workplace, supporting its efforts to safeguard, document and study Emirati heritage on sound scientific foundations.
