(SIH) Introduces Young Generations in Al Dhaid to the Rich Legacy of Falconry and Its Significance in Emirati Heritage
The Sharjah Heritage Institute organized a programme titled “Falconry… The Heritage of Ancestors and the Skills of Generations,” aimed at strengthening young generations’ connection to Emirati cultural heritage and introducing them to one of the most prominent traditional practices that reflects the authenticity of Emirati society and its deep-rooted connection to its environment and longstanding traditions. The programme was held in collaboration with the Sharjah Falconers Club and attended by students from Al Bardi School (Cycle One).
Live Demonstration and Interactive Experience
On Wednesday morning, the Sharjah Heritage Institute’s Al Dhaid branch hosted the programme at Al Dhaid Fort. The event featured a live falcon demonstration, giving students the opportunity to observe the bird up close, discover its significance in Emirati heritage, and learn about the sport of falconry and the methods used to care for falcons.
The students interacted with the falcon and took commemorative photographs with it, enjoying an experience that combined entertainment and knowledge while providing a direct opportunity to connect with one of the authentic symbols of the UAE’s national identity.
Strengthening Identity and Passing on Heritage
The programme forms part of the Institute’s ongoing efforts to raise children’s and young people’s awareness of the importance of preserving Emirati cultural heritage and strengthening their pride in their national identity. Through interactive approaches that combine learning with hands-on experiences, the programme introduces younger generations to the customs and authentic traditions of their ancestors, helping instil this rich legacy in their hearts and minds and ensuring its continuity and transmission to future generations
